Turmeric has been used for centuries as an anti-inflammatory agent in Indian drug systems.Turmeric was once called "Indian Safron" due to its deep yellow-orange hue. It has been used for centuries as a spice, healing remedy, and textile dye.Turmeric is rich with curcuminoids, which have different chemical structures and physicochemical characteristics. This paper describes the Soxhlet extractor unit used to extract curcuminoids.Thin layer chromatography was used to quantify curcuminoids and purify them.TLC Maximum resultant extract (by Hexane was performed. The percentage yield of curcumin from Soxhlet extraction was reported at 4.09%.There were many solvents that could be used to extract curcuminoids. Acetone was the most effective.TLC chloroform at 95:5 was used to separate curcuminoids. The RF values for curcumin, dimethyloxy-curcumin and bis de-methoxy curcumin were respectively 0.59, 0.61 and 0.58.
