Background: Globally, patients' compliance is a multifaceted health problem. The behavior of medication-taking is described using at least three terms. The purpose of this study was to examine a conceptual analysis of patients' compliance with treatment.Method and Material: This methodology involved the analysis of electronic databases like Medline, WHO and Pub Med.The period 1970 to 2011 was covered by the search. Results: Literature analysis included terminology analysis for terms such as 'patients compliance and noncompliance', patients' adherence or non-adherence', and 'patients concordance'.We identified approximately 115 articles. This sample contains 43 articles that analyze the terminology.11 of these terms are discussed in the Nursing Science's response to the debate. Conclusions: There are many ways to define compliance. The philosophical context in which compliance is defined will determine how the term is understood.Patient-centered approaches facilitate the formation of a partnership between patient and therapist.
