The world has been stunned by the emergence of a novel coronavirus variant.The SARS-Coronavirus-2 virus has been responsible for more than 2,000,000 deaths around the world since its identification as a novel disease.This new virus, against which human immune responses are highly variable, is expanding its reach across the globe.It is crucial to know the facts about this deadly entity.This review will provide a comprehensive overview of the facts and figures that help us understand the epidemiology, pathogenesis as well as the prevention and treatment strategies for COVID-19.To better understand the reemergence pattern, we have made important references to the SARS-coronavirus.This will help us understand the key drivers behind reemergence as well as the lessons we must learn to prevent future outbreaks.
